Subway to St. Paul's

he strums his pipe organ
head down
determined to dine
on more than
poetic icons
on walls reverberating
emo trumpet dirge like
an army of souls of
chiorboys
reverberating off St. Paul's
walls
each voice singing:

"soon, soon i will climb
from this blackened earth
into the diffident light."

meanwhile
street-bard
calls me "blackbird...
singing in the dead of night..."

Sue Hubbard's poetry adorns the hallways of a tube station...the station where the trumpet girl and guitar man play. on the way from st. paul's cathedral..i heard a street musician cover the beatles' "blackbird"...
cafe rouge is where i had tea before evensong at St. Paul's with my new friend Eunice (he is from Turkey...we met on the subway)...

corrections...the quote was from Sue Hubbard and the quote at the end is the Beatles...and Eunice's name is actually Yunus...sorry Yunus.
