unplanned/undetected repentance in shaving
whisker
whisker
whiskers
white backgrounded
on landing in basin
loosed cords
once binding
now freeing
lightening face
as light we can walk in
lightens soul
all straining to grow-
-abandoned
all that hid behind hair-
-exposed
all the manliness i mustered
squeezing it out my lip
through follicle-
-gone
bare face
bares inadequacies
i am boy again
simple and free
running
hindered not by lostness
found in tall grasses
i run
over smooth earth
bare and fallow
awaiting turning
my own skin
i will not break
i will not blood-let
flagellating asceticism
plunging that razor-spade
sadistic into soil
of self
but rather
look myself
nude faced
in the eye
and walk away
regretless
washed and shaved
